Richmond Engagement Photos: Christie & Matt

The love that these two have for each other is so evident, and their happiness shines bright in every photo.
They seriously made my “job” not seem like a job at all.
The couple chose to have the majority of their engagement photos taken at the beautiful Amber Grove in Richmond, Virginia,
where they will also be having their wedding in June. The morning began with gray skies and high winds, but the sun made
an appearance for just long enough to capture some stunning scenic portraits. And, I bet you never would have guessed that it was about 30 degrees (with snow flurries falling right after our shoot)!

Their Proposal Story: I always love hearing the creativity that grooms put into asking the big question. Matt’s story is SO clever and quite brave. It includes a lot of secret planning, coordinating with Richmond’s Festival of Lights staff, spreading the word to Christie’s family so they could witness, and a profession of his love on a microphone in front of hundreds of people. Oh yea, and the best part, he wore a full tux beneath his clothes (he even had rip away jeans! lol). Best of all…. Christie was beyond surprised, and, of course…. she said, “YES!”
These pups were SO well behaved! Of course there are a handful of very entertaining “blooper” photos, but overall there are a bunch of great shots with the dogs “posing” perfectly.
Talk about a beautiful family!
Check out these models!
I have to extend a little extra thank you to a dear friend who was off in the distance performing many roles as dog wrangler,
coat holder, and best of all…. joke teller.
I LOVE these silhouette shots in the barn.
After Amber Grove, we popped over to the lovely Boathouse at Sunday Park for a few additional shots.
And, what couple can resist running along the pier to scare the birds?
Each photo is hilarious individually, but I decided to surprise the couple with a little motion collage of the series.
I can’t thank them enough for asking me to capture this incredibly special occasion,
and I send all my best to them for the very exciting time ahead!
Congratulations, Christie & Matt!
