Etsy Spotlight Interview #3 – Little Green Beads

With so many incredible artists all over the globe, Etsy serves as a wonderful online community of talented individuals sharing their gifts with the world. I have decided to feature one Etsy shop each month in hopes of not only spreading the beautiful work of others, but also as a way of encouraging you to explore Etsy.

Included in the image above are limefish studio’s top six picks of artwork by this unique shop!

Here is our exclusive interview questionnaire with the Etsy shop owner, April Jones Sparks.

My shop name is…

    little green beads

The logo was created…

The name comes from my love of beads. 🙂 I can spend hours happily pouring over the selections at any craft store or bead shop. Green is my favorite color so I often have to force myself to choose some other colors as well.
I think the most beautiful things in the world are in nature so I used some stones I collected at the beach last summer and a fern from my living room along with some of my favorite colored beads in my banner/logo. It was fun playing around with different things til I found the look I wanted.

The shop owner is…
    Me – April Jones Sparks

This shop first opened…
    May 2012

The shop is based out of…
My home in Apex, North Carolina.

In my shop you’ll find…
A bunch of earrings, a few bracelets and a necklace or two. I’m adding things all the time though and having so much fun doing it!

My favorite item is…
It’s a tie between the pink beaded necklace with the dragonfly pendant and the hanging earrings with the two pink and one yellowish beads. SO hard not to just keep it all for myself! 😉

My shop is unique because…

I have very simple tastes and I think the jewelry I make reflects that. I can appreciate the beauty of very ornate jewelry and I know many woman can pull it off but it’s just not me. I end up feeling too “fancy” when I try. I’m hoping there are others out there who feel the same way.

I draw inspiration from…

Nature. I love the different shades of greens and browns in the grass and the trees but also the bright pinks, reds and oranges of flowers and the blues in the sky.

My advice to other Etsy shop owners is…

Sorry, I’m new to this [Etsy]. Kind of lacking on advice at the moment. 😉

My work can also be found at…
Just Etsy for now but who knows, right?

Another Etsy shop I love is…
This was the first Etsy shop I ever ordered from and it’s still my favorite… www.etsy.com/shop/Geninne Her beautiful bird prints are hanging all over my house.
